Today I am super excited to have Rob Reustle, my awesome husband, share his story about at-home workouts and drinking daily Shakeology. We have overhauled quite a few things in our lives since starting this crazy ride, and I am so happy to be able to share it with this guy. I love him to bits, and I am excited to see where this incredible journey takes us. Turning dreams into plans! Here is his story…so far:
What inspired you to begin this transformation journey?
My wife! Seeing the success she had with PiYo made me want to also live a healthier and more active lifestyle. Also, seeing some people around me suffer with health issues that can be prevented made me realize there is no time like the present to make a change and get started on a better path.
What Beachbody program(s) have you done?
Insanity (a few years ago), PiYo, and just recently, P90. I have really enjoyed P90, and am starting a second round next week, nothing quite beats the convenience of getting a great workout done at home.
What motivated you to keep going?
I started seeing results after the first week and immediately felt an improvement in my day-to-day life. I had more energy, was sleeping better, and was feeling much better about the food choices I was making.
Was there ever a time you felt completely discouraged? What helped you overcome those feelings of discouragement?
I have not felt discouraged doing these workouts, however, this has been a rough winter and with all the snow shoveling there have been some frustrating days trying to balance workouts, endless shoveling, and just life in general. This is now our lifestyle, not just a 90-day program, so finding balance and allowing yourself to be human is important as well. Sometimes you have to take it one day at a time, and do the best you can each day.
What achievement are you most proud of?
I’ve never really had a negative body image, I just considered myself pretty average. I am probably most proud of the overall changes in the way I feel about myself, feeling more comfortable in my own skin, and the choices I now make. The results and the way I feel, are definitely worth the effort!
What made you decide to become a Team Beachbody Coach?
I really enjoy the convenience and effectiveness of these at-home programs, and I was stealing all of my wife’s Shakeology, so we decided to sign me up as a “discount coach.” Now I get my own bag of Shakeology each month!
What is your favorite Shakeology flavor, and recipe?
Banana Bread Shakeology: Vanilla Shakeology with banana, walnuts, and cinnamon.
Any words of advice for someone who is just starting up with a new Beachbody program?
Never be afraid to modify. I did some serious modification when I started PiYo, and now when I go back to those workouts I am impressed with how far I’ve come. The goal is to always keep improving, as long as you’re better than you were yesterday, just keep on keepin’ on!
