Today, I have to honor of sharing Michael Freed’s story. I was so inspired by my teammate’s determination and courage that I reached out to him, and he happily agreed to answer a few questions and share his story.
What inspired you to begin this transformation journey?
I had no energy and no self-esteem. I couldn’t breathe and I did not sleep well. The short story is, my father died at 53. His first heart attack was his only heart attack. I was on the same path he was on, and I knew if I didn’t change something, I only had a few years left.
What Beachbody program(s) have you done?
The ones I haven’t done would be a shorter list! I’ve done 10 Minute Trainer, Slim in 6, P90X, P90X2, P90X3, Insanity, Asylum, Les Mills Combat, T25, PiYo, Body Beast, and 21 Day Fix.
What motivated you to keep going?
The variety of workouts. One of the reasons I have done so many, is so I don’t get bored.
Was there ever a time you felt completely discouraged? What helped you overcome those feelings of discouragement?
I never feel discouraged, but sometimes I wonder if it’s worth the effort of working out and eating right. Then I look in the mirror, realize how much better I feel, remember my WHY, and I know that it is all worth it.
What achievement are you most proud of?
In the last 2 years, I have run 4 half marathons and one full marathon.
How has your life changed from before you began this journey to now?
I have more energy, I feel better, I can breathe, I sleep better, and I can walk up stairs without running out of breath.
What made you decide to become a Beachbody Coach?
At first it was for selfish reasons, I wanted to make health and fitness a major focus in my life; something it never was before. As a Beachbody Coach, I am surrounded by people who have similar goals. This helps me keep my health and fitness top of mind and a priority. Now I love helping people reach their goals. Being a Coach still keeps me accountable, because if I’m telling people to eat right and exercise, then I had better be doing it myself.
What is your favorite Shakeology flavor, and recipe?
I love them all, even Greenberry. I drink mostly Vegan Chocolate. My favorite recipe is 1 scoop Vegan Chocolate, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1 frozen banana, and cinnamon.
